Being a system administrator means that one must intervene on other computers. In some cases, it also gives that person the authority to restrict certain functions. With AdminDeviceLan, it is possible to control certain aspects of a computer remotely. Advanced networking knowledge is not required. You only have to add a network computer and select certain actions with the aid of check boxes and simple buttons.

The package is 2.40 Mb large and it includes two setup kits. One of them will install the administrator's interface and the other is for a client, which must be installed on computers, other than the administrator's. The software can run smoothly even on low end machines and it is compatible with most Windows versions.

The user interface consists of a list, where you can add the computers on your Local Area Network, and a series of buttons, placed on the right. When adding a new workstation in the list, you will have to specify details like its IP or name, and a port. Once added to the list, you need to select it and hit the Connect button.

After connecting to another computer, you can access a set of options on a different window, after clicking the Package Work button. The new window looks like the main interface, but you will find check boxes and radio buttons on the right side. You can use these to enable or disable a selected computer's CD-ROM, FDD, restart it, synchronize the time on both computers, enable or disable flash drives or set them to read only. You can select one of these options with a check box, set the enabled or disabled state with a radio button and when you are done, click the Start button in the lower right corner and they will take effect immediately.

Pros

The tools provided by AdminDeviceLan can be very useful in certain situations. They will help you disable certain devices on a network computer, which can be done with simple check boxes and radio buttons.

Cons

The number of actions which can be performed may not satisfy all users. AdminDeviceLan's features allow you to block devices on a network computer without needing to be in front of it. You can do it all from a very easy to use interface.
